Dr. Andrew Wiens

Andrew Wiens is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry with the University of Ottawa. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Ottawa in 1987 and did specialty training in Psychiatry and a Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa.

He specializes in Geriatric Psychiatry and is the Service Director for Outreach to Long Term Care Homes of Ottawa at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. As well, he is director of Continuing Medical Education for the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Ottawa. He was elected President of the Medical Staff of Royal Ottawa Health Care Group in 2010.

He is the director of the University of Ottawa Review Course of Psychiatry, a yearly course to prepare Residents in Psychiatry from across Canada for their specialty qualifying written examinations with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He sits on the Champlain Dementia Network, a coordinating body for dementia care in the Champlain Local Health Integration Network’s area.
