Brief Summary
Challenges for women growing older with mental health problems are frequent and complex. Our discussion will include a review of: the demographics of aging, physiologic changes associated with normal aging for women, social stresses associated with aging, frequent medical problems associated with aging, access to mental health services for assessment and diagnosis, caregiver burn-out, treatment options and stigma.
Dr Shea will share her experiences with caring for older women in her role as a Geriatric Psychiatrist at The Royal and looks forward to answering questions from audience members.
