Position: Occupational Therapist
Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE), Contract to July 2012 with possibility of extension
Program: Community Mental Health Program, Dual Diagnosis Consultation Outreach Team, Catherine Street
Location: Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre

Duties:

  • Provide a full range of occupational therapy service in the area of Dual Diagnosis (Mental Illness and Developmental Delay). This will include assessment, recommendations regarding treatment planning to be carried out by other caregivers and providing education to community, family members, caregivers and hospital providers.
  • Travel throughout the Champlain Health Region and deliver service in a variety of community, residential and institutional settings.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to integrate assessment findings and assist in the development of treatment plans with referring sources.
  • Develop with the other team members of the interdisciplinary team education regarding assessment and treatment of individuals with Dual Diagnosis.
  • Contribute to inter-agency assessment and care-planning. The team will include staff or partner organizations.
  • Maintain documentation and data collection as required.
  • Participate in teaching and education of students from health related disciplines.
  • Workplace is primarily office based.
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the ROHCG.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the ROHCG Respectful Workplace policy.

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Occupational therapy experience, preferably with adults with serious mental illness and developmental delay. Experience in pediatrics would be an asset.
  • Member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Membership in CAOT and OSOT preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational ability, critical thinking and goal setting skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislated acts (eg. MHA, The Health Care Consent Act).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Sound clinical judgement.
  • Experience in community consultation is an asset.
  • Ability to work an automated environment.
  • Ability to work in a team; establish and maintain good working relations.
  • English level A is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingualism (French/English) level A- is mandatory in oral expression and comprehension.

Salary: $33.97 to $39.56 per hour
