Position: Social Worker II
Regular Full-Time (1.0 FTE)
Program: Integrated Forensics Program, Champlain, Family Court Clinic
Location: Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre
Duties:
- Work collaboratively, cooperatively and effectively within the Integrated Forensics Program, Champlain Family Court Clinic.
- Complete bio-psycho-social assessments, risk assessment and crisis intervention plans.
- Conduct group, family and individual counselling and therapy.
- Provide education and treatment to clients and families.
- Engage client, family and community supports in the clinical interventions with the inter-disciplinary team to ensure the continuum of care and facilitate follow up in the community.
- Participate as a full and active member of the interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices and standards of Social Work by reviewing literature, attending educational events, networking with colleagues etc.
- Engage actively in relevant Program, Social Work, hospital and community committees including academic (education and research), advocacy and system development as required.
- Contribute to hospital Social Work meetings, committees, clinical consultation groups and quality assurance requirements.
- Supervise students in clinical placements and participate in related academic activities as required.
- Educate other health care professionals and community members as required.
- Keep current with hospital policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
- Ensure documentation and data collection is maintained in accordance with hospital, college and legislative standards and timelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the ROHCG.
- Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the ROHCG Respectful Workplace policy.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work with minimum of 2-3 years clinical Social Work experience in a mental health setting.
- Current registration and member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers.
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act
- Excellent interviewing and assessment skills
- Knowledge of child development
- Experience working with children and youth
- Knowledge of substance misuse
- Excellent report writing skills
- Experience of preparation of court documents
- Training and experience working with families.
- Knowledge of group work.
- Familiarity with community resources.
- Strong conflict resolution abilities.
- Excellent advocacy skills.
- Proven presentation, training and group facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Effective team skills.
- Able to work in a progressively more automated environment.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Access to a vehicle.
- Bilingualism (French/English) level A- is mandatory in oral and expression and comprehension.
Salary: $34.82 to $41.80 per hour
