Cindy is the President of CommuniCare Therapy, a locally owned and operated provider of high quality rehabilitation services. Along with Yvonne Bateman, Cindy founded CommuniCare in 1992. After starting with fewer than 13 clinicians in 1992, Cindy has helped to grow the clinic to over 150 clinicians.
Cindy’s area of clinical focus is the provision of assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with autism, disorders of relating and communicating, global developmental delays and their families. Cindy was the first Canadian to hold certification in the DIR®/Floortime™ model, a model of assessment and treatment created by Dr. Stanley Greenspan and Dr. Serena Wieder. Cindy is on the International Faculty of ICDL, a Washington, DC based institution charged with the training and certification of clinician’s in the DIR approach. In 2006, Cindy was named to the Advisory Board of ICDL. Cindy is a well known public speaker who trains and educates clinicians and parents in the utilization of the DIR approach in North America and abroad.
Cindy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Vermont and a post-graduate certificate in DIR. She is very active in her community and has extensive event based fundraising experience having Chaired Galas and fundraising events for local charities.
