As a practicing Chartered Accountant, spent 13 years with a national accounting firm. During those years, specialized in taxation and in particular, commodity taxes. For the last 2 of those years, worked with the Departments of Finance and Revenue Canada, through Interchange Canada, on the development of the GST and later the Quebec and Atlantic region HST. Joined BMO – Nesbitt Burns in 1997.
As a part-time lecturer, has taught tax about both Algonquin College and the University of Ottawa. As a student at Algonquin College – a graduate of the Sommelier Programme.
Has served on numerous Boards of Directors over the years, including, most recently, the Algonquin College Bursary Foundation and currently acts as Treasurer of the Hnatyshyn Foundation.
