Brief Summary

Anxiety is not meant to be damaging, but in anxiety disorders it turns into suffering that robs the abilities, enjoyment and life satisfaction. A lot of progress has been made in the definitions, research and treatment of anxiety and related disorders. However many people continue struggling with anxiety every day because of its persistent nature or during the times required for improvement and recovery.

Dr. Shlik will focus on what it takes to leave with crippling anxiety and not to lose hope or break down. He will examine how the anxiety permeates the mind, body and behavior and how to recognize and confront these changes to bounce back. In the second talk, we will hear from Lynn about her lived experience of "walking" away from anxiety and depression towards finding her strengths and making a difference for others.
