The Royal is able to successfully treat complex mental illnesses by taking the most modern and effective approaches. We are also dedicated to exploring new approaches to mental health treatment through leading-edge research.

The Depression Research Centre at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre is bringing together world-renowned clinicians, leading-edge scientists and state-of-the-art technology to provide more accurate diagnosis and faster and more effective treatment for people with depression. The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group is comprised of the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, the Brockville Mental Health Centre, the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research, Royal Ottawa Place and the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health.

The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre is a teaching hospital of the University of Ottawa and is networked with Queen’s University and Carleton University. We provide training to the next generation of mental health professionals.
