What Can Research Teach Us About Suicide Prevention?

When a family member, friend or colleague dies by suicide, we are left with many questions. We often ask “why” this tragedy occurred, and “how” it could have been prevented. We hope that one day, through research, we will be able to find answers to both of these questions.

Research provides us with the glimmers of hope that we can pick up on the signals of mental illness early and avert crisis. We are making significant strides through research --- but there is still much that needs to be understood, discovered, and put into action.
