Presenter

Dr. Susan Okigbo,
Psychiatrist and clinical director of the Community Mental Health Program

Overview

The Royal’s Community Mental Health Program works out in the community instead of in a hospital setting to meet the needs of clients who have severe and persistent mental illness and/or intellectual disabilities. This type of community care often involves long term support: advocacy around health and wellness, life skills, education, employment, housing, and more.

Join Dr. Susan Okigbo, a psychiatrist and the clinical director of the Community Mental Health Program, for a discussion about access, pathways, types of mental health services offered by this community based program, and the users and providers of these services. She will share her experiences and valuable lessons in approaching serious mental illness with empathy, dignity and attainment of recovery goals as the main focus. An interactive conversation will follow this presentation.
