IMHR board member honoured with Canadian Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CEDI) Award

The Royal congratulates Geneviève Bonin, a board member of the University of Ottawa Institute for Mental Health Research (IMHR) at The Royal, for receiving the 2024 Canadian Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CEDI) Award from the Women's Executive Network (WXN).

“We are so fortunate to have benefitted from Geneviève's expertise over the years,” says Dr. Florence Dzierszinski, president of the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research (IMHR) at The Royal and vice-president of research. “This award reflects her impact and profile in the community, with governments, and the public and private sectors. Geneviève’s dedication and leadership inspire us all, fostering a brighter future for mental health research and advocacy."

Bonin is a dedicated leader with 30 years of experience solving complex problems and driving transformational societal change. 

Let’s all embrace the amazing things which can happen when we respect where we all come from and care about each other.Bonin is a champion and advocate for EDI, mental health, and wellbeing. As a managing director and partner with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), she builds diverse, high-performing teams to create impactful change. She leads the Canadian public sector practice at BCG and works with global defence and security organizations and allied nations. Bonin’s commitment extends beyond professional leadership into deep community involvement. A former naval engineering officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, her service has fueled her ongoing support for military members, veterans, and their families. As such, in addition to her work with the IMHR board, Bonin actively contributes to the True Patriot Love Foundation and Invictus Games 2025.

“I am incredibly humbled to be a recipient of the 2024 WXN CEDI award,” says Bonin. “The credit goes to all of those who supported me in making ED&I a top priority for the benefit of our society. I used my personal and professional experience to make it real and open up the dialogue and I am so glad that it is now a topic that we speak about openly. Let’s all embrace the amazing things which can happen when we respect where we all come from and care about each other.”

The Canadian Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Award winners will be recognized for their accomplishments on May 22, 2024, at the fourth annual Canadian Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Summit and Awards program in Toronto.
