Dr. Frank MacMaster
Frank MacMaster, PhD is the Vice President of Research and Innovation at IWK Health. He is also a Professor of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University. Before his current roles, Dr. MacMaster was a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine and served as the Scientific Director for the Provincial Addictions and Mental Health Portfolio at Alberta Health Services.
Dr. MacMaster holds a PhD in Anatomy and Neurobiology from Dalhousie University and has completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuroimaging in Child Psychiatry at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. MacMaster's research aims to understand the neurobiology of pediatric neuropsychiatric disorders, with the goal of improving diagnostic methods and developing novel treatments.
He has experience in brain imaging, brain stimulation and has published in the areas of mood disorders, ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome, obsessive compulsive disorder, and psychosis. Dr. MacMaster is also keen to see psychiatric research translated to clinical applications.
