Activities and programs to support your well-being.

Undergoing treatment for mental illness can be an intense experience. To help enhance the time you spend at The Royal, we offer our patients ways to explore additional facets of wellness. Create art. Explore spirituality. Engage in group sessions. See what is available below.

Partners in Art

Artistic expression is one way patients can express themselves during treatment and recovery. Partners in Art is where The Royal displays and celebrates our patients’ work. Art allows them to explore some of the most challenging parts of their treatment journey. It also challenges the stigmas associated with mental illness.

Groups & Sessions

The Royal offers a range of instructional and interactive sessions for patients and caregivers. Treatment is stronger when everyone involved is active and informed. Our group sessions are typically 90 minutes and cover many different topics about mental illness. These have included how to navigate psychosis, supporting anxious teens, emotion coaching for caregivers, and strategies for living with schizophrenia.

Spiritual and Cultural Health

Many patients find that spiritual well-being is vital to treatment. The Spirituality Centre offers multi-faith services with on-site chaplains and clinicians. We also offer access to community and cultural group leaders, as well as mindfulness sessions, weekly non-denominational services and community resources.

Client Advisory Council

The Client Advisory Council serves as the patient’s voice at The Royal. The council advises and advocates on behalf of patients based on their lived experience undergoing treatment at The Royal. The council is comprised of current and former patients and works in partnership with staff and clinicians to help ensure the best possible treatment and standards of care.
