Construction is now underway on The Royal’s new Urgent Care Clinic, set to open in spring 2026 at its Carling Avenue campus. The clinic will fill a critical gap in Ottawa’s mental health-care system, providing timely, specialized, low‑barrier care for individuals in crisis.
Developed in collaboration with patients, families, and community partners, the Urgent Care Clinic will offer walk‑in and scheduled care, short-term follow-up and system navigation support to those in need. It will also support access through primary care referrals, regional emergency departments, and police and paramedic partners.
To bring this project to life, The Royal has partnered with JP Gravel Construction, an Ottawa-based firm recognized for its reliability and expertise in medical and institutional builds.
The purpose‑built clinic will reduce pressure on local emergency departments and strengthen the overall responsiveness of Ottawa’s mental health system. Generous community support has already helped move the project forward.
Impact across the region
The Urgent Care Clinic will be a cornerstone of the Access pillar of The Royal’s SPARQ strategic plan, marking an important step in increasing access to specialized mental health treatment across the region.
