Research Focus

Primary focus is on fostering the mental health of First Nations youth in Northwestern Ontario through youth-led programming that promotes supportive relationships, connection to land, and cultural continuity.

A Point of Pride

With our support, First Nations youth have created and launched several culturally based programs that enabled youth to express their voice through art, to participate in cultural events that promote a sense of belonging and meaning, and to establish a peer network of support for the most vulnerable, namely youth aging out of the foster care system.

How I am Working to Make a Difference for Those Living with Mental Illness

This research is empowering First Nations youth in a manner that is affirming their identity, building resilience, and enabling their capacity to bring about positive mental health outcomes for themselves, their peers, and communities.
