Regional Crisis Lines

If you or someone you know is having a mental health or addiction crisis, immediate help is available. The crisis lines listed below provide 24/7 access to trained responders who offer confidential support, crisis intervention and connection to local resources.

If your mental illness and/or addiction needs are a medical emergency, or if there is a concern you might hurt yourself or someone else, call 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department.

9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline

This 24/7 helpline is available across Canada and delivers support in English and French. It provides urgent, live support by phone and text. 9-8-8 is for anyone thinking about suicide or worried about someone they know. Trained responders answer calls and texts and listen without judgement while providing support.

Mental Health Crisis Line

This 24/7 service is for individuals 16+ experiencing severe stress, mental illness symptoms, suicidal thoughts or related concerns. It is available to residents of Ottawa, Prescott and Russell, Renfrew, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, and Akwesasne. The service is staffed by trained crisis line responders.

Distress Centre of Ottawa and Region Mental Health Crisis Line

The Distress Centre has 210 volunteers who answer over 60,000 calls each year. Phone and text support are available 24/7, offering confidential, non-judgmental assistance to anyone.

Mental Health Service Renfrew County Crisis Management

This bilingual telephone support service is for anyone 16+ experiencing a mental illness or addiction crisis. It includes referral to the OPP Mobile Crisis Team (10 a.m.–8 p.m. daily), rapid assessment and stabilization, prevention or facilitation of hospital admission, follow-up and community support, and access to wellness resources.

Youth Services Bureau (YSB)

This 24/7 crisis line and chat service supports children and youth 18 and under. Parents, caregivers, friends and service providers may also call if they are concerned about a young person. YSB offers supportive listening, immediate crisis counselling, information on resources and referrals to child and youth services.
