Meghan Hanley is a philanthropic and strategic leader working at the intersection of innovation, science, and care. She is the Chief Operating Officer of Thistledown, established with the belief that solving complex engineering and scientific challenges will unlock human potential and lead to a healthier, more abundant future. Since 2020, Meghan has helped build a $150 million climate technology portfolio and delivered over $33 million in philanthropic support for health systems, including transformative contributions to pediatric hospitals across Canada.
She also serves as Director of the Waverley House Foundation, which advances mental health research and care through partnerships with institutions such as The Royal, CAMH, SickKids, and Dalhousie University. Her work focuses on amplifying research impact, fostering collaboration, and building programs that bridge discovery and real-world care.
Before her work in philanthropy and impact investing, Meghan spent over a decade with Global Affairs Canada, specializing in international security and peacebuilding. She brings a global lens, deep public sector experience, and a strong commitment to community-rooted impact.
A passionate advocate for mental health and organ donation, Meghan supports causes that reflect her belief in compassionate, purpose-driven service. She lives in Ottawa with her family and finds balance in nature—often on skis or in a kayak, far from her inbox.
