Scientist
My research focuses on understanding and treating cognitive dysfunctions in schizophrenia and related psychiatric disorders. I have contributed significantly to identifying brain mechanisms underlying memory and social cognition impairments, including work linking prefrontal cortical thinning to cognitive deficits in schizophrenia.
I am internationally recognized for my leadership in developing and evaluating innovative cognitive remediation therapies. I founded the Cognitive Health Research Clinic, which offers neurocognitive assessments, evidence-based cognitive interventions, and a platform for training and implementation research.
I have published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including work in Molecular Psychiatry and Psychological Medicine. Beyond research, I serve on the Executive Committee of the Canadian Network for Research in Schizophrenia and Psychoses, was elected a Junior Member of the Executive Committee of the Schizophrenia International Research Society, and consults for organizations such as the Wellcome Trust and Boehringer Ingelheim.
I co-designed ThinkTactic VR, one of the first virtual reality–based cognitive remediation program for psychosis, created in collaboration with clinicians, VR developers, and individuals with lived experience. This novel program integrates immersive, cognitively demanding scenarios to help participants transfer therapeutic gains into daily life.
