Connecting with patients on Mothers’ Day

Mother’s Day is an important day to show our love and appreciation for the mothers and mother figures in our lives. This year, with the ongoing efforts to combat COVID-19, Mother’s Day will be unlike any other.

In order to reduce the risk of exposure to Coronavirus COVID-19 for clients and staff, visitors are not permitted at The Royal at this time. However, we understand that loved ones would like a way to connect with their moms and grandmothers. Here are some ways you can do so:

By telephone: Call +1 (613) 722.6521 to reach the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre or Royal Ottawa Place. For the Brockville Mental Health Centre, call +1 (613) 345-1461

Send a greeting:  Fill out the form below to send a written greeting to your loved one. We will create a simple card with your note and deliver it to your loved one on Mother’s Day. To ensure the card is delivered on Mother's Day, please submit this form by 10 am on Sunday, May 10.

Sending Gifts

In order to keep patients and staff safe from COVID-19, The Royal has limited the number of items it allows families and friends to bring in for their loved ones.  We are only accepting essential items (such as grooming items and personal assistive devices).  If your loved one requires an essential item, please contact their care team to arrange delivery.

We know that it is hard to be away from family and friends, particularly on occasions like Mother’s Day.  To help, we have assembled a special team of staff to help boost the spirits of your loved ones in the hospital while you can't be there.  They bring cheer to patients (and staff) in the form of songs, smiles, and sometimes even treats.
