Intended audience

As a family member or caregiver, we understand that your loved one’s mental health or substance use health can have a significant impact on you. The Royal’s family information events are intended for family members or caregivers of individuals with a mental health or substance use health issue. These events are an opportunity to learn from our experts, find out about available resources, and connect with others who share a similar experience. There is no cost to participate but registration is required. Please note, this session is for Ontario residents only.

Deborah Mullins, MSW, RSW

Social Worker at The Royal

Debbie Mullins has been a social worker at The Royal since 1999. With over 20 years of experience in the Geriatric Psychiatry Program, Debbie leads daily groups alongside colleagues to support clients and families. She focuses on teaching specific skills and offering insights into mental health and well-being, with the goal of helping people meet their personal goals and live meaningful lives.

Overview

This in-person only event features a presentation, workshop, and group discussion designed for anyone experiencing loss and seeking to understand the emotional, physical, and intellectual changes that come with grief. We will explore what happens in our brains during grief, the feelings of disconnection from loved ones, and the anger that sometimes arises simply because the world keeps turning.
