As a family member or caregiver, we understand that your loved one’s mental health or substance use health can have a significant impact on you. The Royal’s family information events are intended for family members or caregivers of individuals with a mental health or substance use health issue. These events are an opportunity to learn from our experts, find out about available resources, and connect with others who share a similar experience. There is no cost to participate but registration is required. Please note, this session is for Ontario residents only.

Presenter

Dr. Tabitha Rogers,

Psychiatrist, Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Program

Dr. Tabitha Rogers is a University of Ottawa graduate and the clinical lead for the inpatient Schizophrenia Program at The Royal. Before becoming a psychiatrist, she worked as an Emergency Department Social Worker at The Ottawa Hospital. When she’s not working, Dr. Rogers loves traveling with her husband and their dog, Sprocket.

Overview

Schizophrenia is one of the most complex and often misunderstood mental illnesses. Thanks to ongoing research and innovation, our understanding and treatment options are rapidly evolving. In this session, Dr. Rogers will explore the latest advances in drug treatments for schizophrenia, highlighting how new insights into brain biology are helping reduce trial-and-error in care planning and improving outcomes for patients.
