The Royal’s main campus is located centrally in Ottawa on Carling Avenue. This facility has 188 beds in a range of clinics and programs, including state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, as well as a 24-bed recovery and 64-bed long-term care facility.

To reach The Royal from any part of Ottawa, click here to access Google Maps and enter your starting address for directions. If coming via highway from west of the city, exit the 417 at Carling Avenue and proceed to the campus. If coming from east of the city, exit the 417 at Parkdale Avenue, then head south, turning west on Carling Avenue.

Pay parking is located at the main entrance, in the lower visitors parking lot and along the ring road that circles the campus. Parking costs are $3.40 per half hour to a maximum daily rate of $14.00.

Passes are available in 5-, 10-, or 30-visit coupons at a cost of $28, $56, or $168. They can be purchased on the second floor from the Cashier’s Office (Mon–Fri, 9–11:30 a.m.) or at the Volunteer Café (8 a.m.–3 p.m.).

For longer-term inpatient parking, please speak with your treatment team. Standard client pick-up and drop-off have two dedicated spots at the main entrance with 15-minute time limits. There are ten accessible parking spots available at the main entrance as part of pay parking.

We offer Electric Vehicle (EV) charging at the main entrance parking lot. There are two parking spots as part of pay parking available to the public. The EV chargers require the use of the Charge point App available from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. There is an additional cost of $2.50 per hour up to 4 hours and an overstay fee of $5.00 per hour for every hour afterwards.

Brockville campus

The Royal’s Brockville campus features 163 inpatient beds – 59 beds in the forensic treatment unit (FTU) and 100 beds in the secure treatment unit (STU). Brockville also offers community services through Assertive Community Treatment Dual Diagnosis, geriatric outreach, the Homes for Special Care Program, and the Forensic Outreach Program.

Where to eat

The Royal offers dining options at multiple vendor locations on our campuses. These options include coffee and other drinks, meals and snacks.

Cafeteria

The cafeteria at the Ottawa campus is located on the first floor. It offers many different healthy meal options, with daily specials and options for a range of dietary needs, including plant-based diets.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 to 10:30 a.m.; and 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Winter Garden Café

The Ottawa campus features the Winter Garden Café, located on the second floor. The Café serves coffee and other drinks, baked goods and snacks, such as yogurt and cheese. A lunch menu is also available.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

River Café

The Brockville campus features the River Café, part of vocational training for patients at the hospital. The Café serves lunch options, coffee and tea as well as snacks.

Patients at the Brockville campus prepare the food at the Café, whose menus are designed alongside a dietitian. Patients can eat from the Café, as can visiting family members.

Hours: Monday to Friday for two hours each day over lunch.
