The Royal opens new Resource Hub designed by clients and families, for clients and families

The Client and Family Resource Hub will provide meaningful, evidence-based support to clients and families, enriching their journey and providing hope.

OTTAWA, ON. – May 1, 2023: The Royal will officially open the doors to its new Client & Family Resource Hub (The Hub) on May 2, 2023. The Hub will serve as a one-stop-shop to support clients and families on their journey to recovery by providing access to key information and resources.

The Hub was thoughtfully designed by clients and families, for clients and families through a lived experience lens, and it embodies The Royal’s commitment to delivering client and family-centred care. Thanks to a dynamic team of client and family advisors, interdisciplinary staff and community representatives, The Hub will contribute to the wellbeing of clients and families, fostering positive experiences and improving care outcomes.

Located conveniently in the front lobby of The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, The Hub is a safe and welcoming space that will offer connections to in-person and virtual resources for clients and families. The Hub will provide opportunities for clients and families to learn about The Royal, as well as how to navigate care and services, access information, resources, research studies and program or community-based peer support. At The Hub, clients and families can also discover how to use The Royal’s client portal (electronic health record), wellness apps and community-based services, and engage as volunteers and/or advisors.

When clients and families visit The Hub, knowledgeable volunteer concierges will greet and support them in their quest for resources. Clients and families will also have access to computers, a printer, personal device charging stations, a lounge area, a book and DVD sign-out service, and more. The Hub will initially be open to clients and families of The Royal, with hopes to expand and offer support to the broader community in the near future.

In order to meet clients and families where they are, there is also a virtual collection of evidence-based resources available, which can be found at theroyal.ca/thehub

The creation of The Hub would not have been possible without the generous philanthropic support Mr. Johannes Ziebarth of Ziebarth Electrical Contractors Ltd.
